Complete Streets Implementation: Moving from Vision to Design and Construction

This session will focus on implementation using regional examples (one from Memphis, one from Arkansas, and one from Chattanooga).  Wade's presentation will focus on implementation using regional examples (one from Memphis, one from Arkansas, and one from Chattanooga). His piece will focus on what happens when you move from Vision to design and construction - the pitfalls and how to overcome them. As the Program Manager of Active and Sustainable Transportation for the Region of York, Shawn will speak to his experiences related to implementation at a regional level. Shawn works each day to entice people out of their cars with better transportation options. Using examples from Ontario and Eastern Canada, Kate will expand further on Complete Streets implementation. Language in the form of policy that shapes the decision-making framework for a City, through to partnerships when Transportation Planning and Public Works departments come together to make a project a reality. Kate's discussion will build on the regional examples presented by Wade with examples from Ontario.
