APBP 2017 Professional Development Seminar

The panelists will discuss their experience and lessons learned while funding, planning, and implementing nine "pop-up", or temporary demonstration events that aimed to showcase future innovative active transportation facilities in a fun, engaging environment. This overall project, led by Southern California's Metropolitan Planning Organization, is unique in that several local community partners worked within the consistent branding and thematic frame set forth by the MPO and grant funders while still developing context-sensitive events that reflected the communities' values and specific infrastructure projects. We will focus on the dynamic of having local communities (including advisory committees made up of stakeholders) and the larger agency partner to pull off successful demonstrations.
